HOW IT WORKS

Planning Your Session
When you arrive we will start by discussing your goals, reviewing your wardrobe options, and creating a game plan for the types of images you want to capture during your session. I have a steamer if we need to refresh your clothes after their trip to the studio. There is a private changing room, and a hair & makeup station so we can make sure you look exactly the way you want.
THEATRICAL HEADSHOTS
The goal is to show casting directors exactly who you are. Confident, approachable, and interesting without overacting for the camera.
Multiple looks to cover your full range: intense and dramatic, warm and approachable, and everything in between.

COMMERCIAL HEADSHOTS
Colorful backgrounds, bright energy, and a wider smile. These are the shots that book you the friendly neighbor, the relatable professional, and the brand spokesperson.
Essential for any actor looking to expand into commercial work alongside their theatrical career.

Theatrical headshots are used for film, TV, and stage auditions. They tend to be more natural, close-cropped, and expressive. The goal is to show casting directors who you genuinely are.
Commercial headshots target advertising and print work. They're typically brighter, more upbeat, and show a wider range of personality. Think friendly, approachable, and relatable.
Most actors benefit from having both in their portfolio. During your session we'll capture both styles so you're covered for every audition type.
Your headshot should make a casting director feel like they already know who you are. The best actor headshots capture your genuine personality and suggest your type without forcing an expression or overacting for the camera.
Casting directors scroll through hundreds of submissions. You need to look like the most compelling version of yourself, not a version trying to look like someone else.
Three things every great headshot needs: confidence (in the eyes), approachability (in the mouth), and personality (in the expression). That's exactly what we work to capture.
For actors, wardrobe is especially important because clothing suggests character type. Bring a range: something casual (a good fitted tee or tank works great for commercial looks), something that represents your most castable type, and a wildcard you're not sure about.
I shoot tethered into my laptop so we can tell immediately what works on camera. Sometimes it's the piece you weren't planning on using that becomes the best shot of the day.
Avoid logos, busy patterns, and anything that draws attention away from your face. V-necks and deep necklines pull focus from your eyes. Well-fitted is always better than baggy. If you wear glasses, bring them.
Professional retouching is completed within 7 days of your shoot.
You'll receive high-resolution digital files via email, ready for immediate upload to casting sites or submission to agents and managers.
If you need expedited delivery for an urgent audition, let me know before the end of your shoot. Rush processing is $100/image.
I recommend 3-5 options minimum. Think variety: a casual look (a well-fitted tee or tank), a smart casual look (button-down or blazer), and something that represents your most castable type.
For actors, clothing suggests character. A leather jacket reads completely differently than a crewneck sweater. Bring more than you think you'll need. If you don't bring it, I can't shoot it.
Blues and grays photograph beautifully. Avoid busy patterns, logos, and anything that distracts from your face.
Yes. Acting headshots are delivered with your name formatted on the image, ready to upload to Backstage, Actors Access, and your agency's submission system.
You'll also receive a square-cropped version for profile pictures and social media. All files are high-resolution and ready for both digital use and professional printing.
Every photoshoot can be scheduled online. If the date is available on the scheduler, you're welcome to book it.
My calendar typically books about 2 weeks out. I recommend scheduling as soon as possible to secure your preferred date and time.
Same-day and next-day appointments are sometimes available for urgent auditions. Text me to check availability.
Yes. Included in the price of your shoot are 10 retouched images. If you'd like more, additional retouched images can be purchased for $100/ea.
Images are kept on my hard drive for 1 year so you can reach out anytime to purchase additional selects.

READY TO DOWNLOAD WHEN I GOT HOME!

"I heard of Mike through a friend. We shot for what felt like 5 minutes (probably more like 90minutes after he helped me pick wardrobe choices and by the time I got home the photos were ready to be downloaded in my email."
